The Chinese New Year Charity Ball, presented by the Australian Chinese Events Committee Inc. was held at the Palladium Ballroom in the Crown Entertainment Complex on Saturday 12th February. The entertainment of the night opened with a 6-lion performance by 3 lions from Hong De Lion, 2 lions from Khuan Yee Lion Dance (QLD) and 1 lion from Kun Seng Keng (Indonesia). The red packets collected from over 400 guests at the Black Tie Gala event were donated to Very Special Kids. A total of $765 was collected from all the tables. Later during the night, Hong De donated an auction item (lion dance performance) and this was hotly bidded for by three bidders. At the end the winning bidder paid $888 for the item. We were very pleased to have donated a total of $1653 to Very Special Kids. Thank you to all the members from Hong De, KSK and Khuan Yee who volunteered for the performance.
