On Saturday 28th November 2009, Hong De Lions celebrated the opening of the newly re-furbished archways in Chinatown. The funding for the restoration was allocated by the State Government. New lighting along Lt. Bourke Street was also installed. The event was opened by the Victorian Premier, John Brumby, the Lord Mayor of the City of Melbourne, Mr Robert Doyle and Chinatown Precinct Association President, Mr Danny Doon. The event was organised by the Chinatown Precinct Association and the City of Melboune. All our lions came out to play that day - 5 in all were involved in the blessing of the new archway. After the formalities, we later performed in Chinatown Square, Cohen Place.
